UACCB ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification

The ServSafe® program provides food safety training for food service managers. In this course, you will earn the ServSafe® Food Protection Manager certification accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Instructor Melissa Foster has more than 35 years of food service experience. Ms. Foster is the Food Preparation Supervisor at UACCB. She is a Certified ServSafe® Instructor Proctor, Certified Dietary Manager and Certified Food Protection Professional. Textbook and exam voucher are included in the cost. UACCB - The Basics of Spanish

Are you interested in learning the basics of Spanish? This entry-level class will provide you with both proper and practical knowledge of the Spanish language so you can better understand and communicate with Spanish speakers in your life. This is a beginning course suitable for learners with little to no previous experience. Instructor Elizabeth Taylor will use a textbook and cooperative learning strategies for basic instruction primarily in the areas of listening and speaking, while also incorporating basic reading and writing skills throughout the 6-week course. A textbook will be provided. This class will be held on Monday nights, January 31-March 14 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. (NO class February 14th) Deadline to register for this class is January 17.

UACCB Suicide Prevention & Awareness - FREE

Maggie Beshears, LPC, and Lindsey Bowers, MRC, will be presenting a free class on Suicide Prevention and Awareness on February 24th from 6-8 p.m. in the Independence Hall Auditorium at UACCB. This presentation will help you recognize the signs and symptoms associated with depression and anxiety, suicide myths, and recognizing the warning signs and risk factors related to those individuals who are facing mental health challenges leading to suicidal thinking and behaviors. Our goal is to help participants become better equipped in helping a family member or friend who may experience suicidal thoughts by discussing skills on how to appropriately and effectively approach a family member or friend who is faced with this challenge. Pre-registration is required.

UACCB Growing with Grief

Grief has been described as being a journey and a natural part of life when loved ones pass away. Everyone’s experience and coping with the pain will be different. There is not a timeline for grief and loss. Grief is a normal and vulnerable pain that brings up many thoughts and emotions. Instructor Maggie Beshears, LPC, is a Behavioral Health Therapist with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Ms. Beshears will guide you through the grief cycle and symptoms that arise from grief. You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of grief and will also learn coping skills to help you survive the hurt caused by the devastating loss of loved ones. This course is provided in partnership with White River Health System and UACCB.

You will learn how to utilize your DSLR camera’s manual functions, basic photo composition rules, how to achieve proper exposure and troubleshooting techniques. Instructor Hannah Keller Flanery has a background in journalism and years of experience as a freelance photographer. Bring your DSLR camera along with your owner’s manual for this one-session class.

Electrical Code Update covers the most significant changes to the 2020 National Electric Code (NEC). Instructor is Randall Pearce from the Arkansas Construction Education Foundation (ACEF). UACCB First Responder Course

UACCB’s Community Education division will present a 48-hour First Responder hybrid course June 6-July 14. Course instruction will be presented in a blended format of 6 (six) In-person classes from 5-9 p.m. on Monday evenings and 6 (six) On-Demand, online sessions that can be accessed at your convenience. Online sessions will allow you time to discuss your coursework, get all your questions answered, learn skills from the instructor(s) and chat with your peers. This course meets the National Emergency Medical Responder curriculum guidelines. Instructor, Ms. Jennifer Davidek, UACCB EMS Program Director. Textbook included. There are no pre-requisites required for this course. UACCB Class B CDL Training

School bus drivers are needed in almost every school district in the state of Arkansas. UACCB is offering a 20-hour in-person training course for those interested in pursuing a Class B Commercial Driving License with a School Bus Endorsement. The course covers the general knowledge portion of the CDL exam as well as the school bus, passenger and air brakes endorsements. A Class B license will enable you to drive any vehicle (including dump trucks) that is greater than 26,001 lbs. To register, you must be 18 years old and have a current, valid Arkansas driver's license. Class times for June 14, 16, 21 is 4-8 p.m. and June 25 is 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Note: UACCB is not a Class B CDL testing site. This is a training class to help you prepare for the written & driving tests.
